Job Summary
The Construction Manager oversees large projects, ensuring they meet the company's standards for safety, quality, management, and financial performance. They recruit, manage, and supervise project staff, plan and monitor projects from start to finish, and ensure compliance with building and safety regulations.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, train, manage, and supervise project staff according to company policies.
- Address human resource issues and review subordinate PMs' recommendations.
- Manage workload distribution, monitor customer delivery and job progress.
- Plan, manage, and maintain project profitability.
- Ensure accuracy in job cost postings, invoices, collections, and financial reports.
- Handle multiple scopes of work (structured cable, audio-visual, security, life safety).
- Participate in the bid process.
- Manage quality and safety on projects.
- Act as liaison with customer representatives.
- Implement account improvements.
- Oversee construction projects from start to finish.
- Review projects to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
- Maintain compliance with building and safety regulations.
- Cook up multiple scopes of work (structured cable, audio-visual, security, life safety).
- Participate in the bid process.
- Manage quality and safety on projects.
- Act as liaison with customer representatives.
- Implement account improvements.
- Oversee construction projects from start to finish.
- Review projects to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
- Maintain compliance with building and safety regulations.
- Coordinate construction workers and subcontractors.
- Select tools, materials, and equipment, track inventory.
- Meet contractual performance conditions.
- Daily review of work progress.
- Prepare job status reports.
- Prevent and resolve problems.
- Negotiate terms, draft contracts, and obtain permits.
- Analyze and mitigate risks.
- Ensure quality construction standards and techniques.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
- Self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and lead others to create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s).
- Promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
- Possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations.
- Possess proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
- Able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
- Possess the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
- Be able to successfully secure and maintain a Company sponsored American Express Card.
Education, Certification, License, And Skill Requirements
- Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- RCDD certification preferred.
- Experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the Company.
- Minimum of seven (7) years supervisory or managerial experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
- Meet Company minimum driving standards.
- Able to manage multiple tasks/project phases simultaneously.
- Able to supervise subordinate PMs on the project.
- Demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks, and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
- Proficient with the following trade Tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester, and 5-gang punch tool.
