Responsibilities

  • Aids project management in controlling project costs and maintaining overall profitability.
  • Examines project schedules and coordinates labor, materials, and equipment needed for various tasks.
  • Monitors all work activities and instructs superintendents and foremen on desired labor methods and necessary equipment/materials.
  • Affirms all production work adheres to project specifications and continuously monitors progress and quality.
  • Aids project management in estimating and/or scheduling manpower requirements for specific tasks.
  • Counsels craft supervision in coordinating future job activities to ensure continued productivity.
  • Inspects project work activities and advises superintendents and foremen of potential hazards, assisting in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Collaborates with engineers, clients, inspectors, etc., to resolve project design and specification issues and develop solutions.
  • Maintains project progress and cost data to analyze work efficiency and regularly attends and leads project safety meetings.
  • Conducts regular meetings with craft supervision to coordinate future job activities.
  • Ensures adherence to safety procedures and advises on specific work areas and conditions requiring safety attention.
  • Determines the scope of work, locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required from blueprints and specifications.
  • Identifies all tools required for tasks and identifies safety risks along with the precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
  • Manages workloads, supplies, equipment, and reporting.
  • Calculates heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.

Qualifications

Salary/Pay Rate: In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act, the expected salary range for this Illinois position, Construction Manager I, is between $140,899 and $201,693, annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension.
  • Required to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift.
  • May be required to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  • Works in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot to cool/cold, occasional rain, at different elevations, and in close, confined spaces for a long period of time.
  • Noises may be high due to machinery and equipment.

Prior Experience

Industrial history experience is required.

Must understand how to read and interpret technical manuals in order to determine work procedures.

Must be reliable, accountable, and consistent in performing administrative processes.
