About the role
Geosyntec is seeking a Construction Manager for our Sacramento or Davis, California offices. The ideal candidate will manage various civil earthwork, infrastructure, environmental remediation, landfill construction, and related projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction work in compliance with technical specifications, drawings, and work plans
- Communicate design modifications and concerns to the Engineer-of-Record professionally and promptly
- Lead safety on all projects by implementing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans, company guidelines, and best practices
- Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, clarifications, and pay applications in a timely manner
- Review and approve contractors' CQC procedures and material submittals
- Maintain project files and records, analyze schedules, and monitor progress
- Prepare and issue field change requests and change orders
- Review and approve field documentation and laboratory tests of construction materials
- Establish and maintain field offices to ensure a clean, orderly, and professional work environment
- Manage project staffing and interact with project personnel
- Drive personal and company vehicles for business travel
Qualifications
- High school diploma and 10+ years of relevant construction management experience, or
- An associate degree or college diploma and 8+ years of relevant experience, or
- A bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related fields and 5+ years of relevant experience, or
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, ability, and construction management skills
- Experience managing infrastructure construction or environmental remediation projects with high safety standards
- Previous project management background and knowledge of CPM software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based software applications
- Technical understanding of construction quality assurance and management procedures
- Strong willingness to work at construction sites and travel overnight
- Ability to lift and move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to speak, hear, stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic
- Valid U.S. driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation for business travel
