Major Accountabilities

Aids Project Managers in planning and preparing for project construction activities, including cost estimates, schedules, constructability walkdowns, and daily oversight of capital projects.

Maintains project team focus on achieving construction milestones and key project objectives.

Monitors and controls construction cost and schedules.

Manages resources for project construction to ensure construction team is properly supported.

Communicates with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth flow of support for the assigned project as required by project management.

Identifies construction risks and opportunities.

Develops mitigation measures and manages their resolution.

Maintains closure of identified items.

Manages construction related project changes (e.g., changes in work, job conditions, contractor relations, etc.) and communicates and resolves changes to all stakeholders to support the project plan.

Ensures all work activities comply with all construction Health, Safety, Environmental and Human Performance requirements; qualified site clearance and tagging as acceptor and event reporting.

Defines project quality requirements and applicable procedures.

Ensures compliance to these requirements and procedures.

Nuclear Requirements

Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.

Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.

This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.

Qualifications

  • A four year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other job-related field from an accredited college or university AND relevant work experience for Palo Verde—four (4) years of field experience directing construction/modification activities (of which one year experience must be in nuclear).
  • In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, combination of college coursework and/or relevant experience (see above) equaling eight (8) years.

Skills

  • Experience interpreting, evaluating and working with task, milestone and logic driven project schedules.
  • Experience in executing various project management and control techniques such as earned value, resource loading, document control, cost reporting and forecasting and critical path scheduling.
  • Knowledge of construction standards, OSHA standards and environmental regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, specifically in the field of construction.
  • Good computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling, presentations, web-based project portals and document revision and markups).
