About the Program
Polk Mechanical is a specialty mechanical sub‑contractor focusing on pipefitting, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, and ductwork for commercial and industrial projects. The Polk Internship Program (Summer 2026) offers a paid, on‑site and in‑office experience that blends on‑the‑job work, self‑ and social growth, and formal training. Interns finish the program with experience, exposure, and insight into success within the mechanical construction industry.
Program Components
- Team Building Activities: Fun outings designed for bonding with teammates and fellow interns.
- On‑the‑Job Workbook: The i3 Workbook serves as a roadmap covering tasks, concepts, and qualities needed for successful Assistant Project Managers.
- Field Trips: Job‑site visits, vendor tours, and industry events provide first‑hand exploration.
- Intern Roundtable Discussions: Regular sessions for interns to share experiences and feedback with peers and program coordinators.
- Professional Development Sessions: Formal training to build business acumen and improve interpersonal skills.

Location
The majority of internship openings are based at Polk’s DFW Headquarters (2425 Dillard St., Grand Prairie, TX 75051), with limited opportunities at the Houston and Austin offices.
Eligibility
We are seeking students in their junior or senior year of a degree program. Preferred majors include Construction Management/Science and related engineering fields. Candidates should be interested in project management, estimating, field leadership, and VDC.
