Description
Hourigan is a fully integrated construction management and development firm known for its successful projects and strong client relationships. This summer internship offers hands-on learning opportunities across various construction management areas.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Dive into project management tasks such as project finances, maintaining contract documents, issuing subcontracts, preparing submittal schedules, coordinating meetings, RFIs, change order requests, and more.
- Explore safety and quality control programs, conducting safety inspections and creating safety procedures.
- Gain field management experience by leading on-site activities and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Learn about the preconstruction process by assisting with bid packages, evaluating subcontractor bids, reviewing proposals/specifications, drawings, and taking material measurements.
- Experience the latest technology in preconstruction and construction, including creating, editing, and running clash detection on three-dimensional BIM models using tools like AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, and Archicad.
- Participate in the Hourigan Safety and Health Management System (SHMS), adhering to safe work practices, raising concerns, attending safety training, and eliminating hazards.
Qualifications And Experience
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Must demonstrate genuine interest in the construction industry.
- Fosters a strong desire to learn and welcomes new challenges.
- Able to work approximately 40 hours per week for a summer internship.
- Able to work independently, but also values teamwork and collaboration.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings and evenings, to meet project needs.
- Work may be performed in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
- Frequent physical activity includes standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional activity includes sitting and using a computer or viewing a computer screen.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
