About the role
Act as Owner's Representative for State, Federal, or local clients, where most projects are roadway-related – asphalt and concrete paving, bridges, guard rail, traffic signals, etc.
Responsibilities
- Observe the work of contractors involved in the construction of projects and perform quality assurance (QA) activities.
- Perform non-manual field work that involves applying acquired knowledge and experience to observe moderately complex construction contracts and related activities.
- Cookordination with field lead / internal project manager and/or owner on assigned tasks.
- Record and document construction activities in accordance with contract requirements, such as daily diaries, daily payment reports during progress of work, and others as assigned.
- Participate in internal quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
- Follow all applicable safety protocols while onsite, including requirements established by contract documents, client standards, and internal policies.
Requirements
- Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering or construction management degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
Qualifications
No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate'S or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
Skills
- Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl to inspect work.
- Ability to observe construction activities and distinguish colors.
- Ability to perceive back-up alarms and other warnings.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.

Pay
Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
Schedule
Position may require nonstandard work shifts, such as long hours, weekends, or nights as per client and/or manager's direction.
