About the role
The Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University is seeking applicants to fill two (2) tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in our growing Construction Science and Management and Concrete Industry Management programs, beginning in Fall 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as departmental needs require.
- Conduct research and establish an independent research program focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence in construction management, concrete materials science, virtual design and construction, predictive analytics for schedule/cost/risk in construction, 3D printed concrete structures, modular and offsite construction, and resilient and insurable construction systems.
- Engage undergraduate and graduate students in research activities and supervise graduate students.
- Participate in appropriate service activities at the program, department, university, and professional levels.
Requirements
- An earned doctoral degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- An undergraduate degree in Construction Management from an ACCE or ABET accredited institution, or in Construction Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or a closely related field from a similarly accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A publication record in academic journals and proceedings.
- The potential for a viable externally funded research program.
- Three or more years of full-time work experience in a construction management or construction engineering discipline.
- Research expertise in one or more of the following areas: Artificial intelligence in construction management, concrete materials science, virtual design and construction, predictive analytics for schedule/cost/risk in construction, 3D printed concrete structures, modular and offsite construction, and resilient and insurable construction systems.
- Ability to teach in one or more of the following content areas: Construction technology, construction materials, means and methods, construction equipment and methods, construction contracts, risk and ethics, fundamentals of concrete construction, means and methods, precast/prestressed concrete products and management, sustainability in concrete, concrete problems, diagnosis, and prevention.
- Earned construction industry certifications (i.e. Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), LEED-AP, DBIA Design-Build Professional, or related).
Qualifications
