About the role

Report to the Principal Construction Inspector and work in conjunction with the Roadway Area Resident Manager Lead. Projects within the Central Terminal Area (CTA) include all Terminals, Landside areas including Parking Structures, and the Airside areas (AOA Apron and Gates). Overall responsibility for Area Shutdown Request (ASR) compliance and proper execution of said ASRs at the following locations: CTA Roadways, Parking Structures, Central Utility Plant (CUP), Terminals, and Apron and Gate Areas.

Establish a collaborative working relationship with Airport Operations Night Managers (OPS 66), Airport Police, Owner’s PM/Contractor Supervisor, and TDG Safety & Inspections. Review all Approved ASRs for all Projects deployed and working within the aforementioned locations to ensure the correct Approved and Current shutdown requests with associated documents are in the possession of the Project Supervisor and located in any vehicle parked in the Construction Zone.

Produce a Nightly Report and report back to the Coordination and Logistics Management (CALM) Team Members, the Owner’s PM staff, and Safety and Inspection for any conflicts discovered during the previous night shift via the Nightly Report.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Nightly Huddle with Airport Operations support.
• Distribute the Roadway Bulletin, Terminal Bulletin & Daily Roadway Map to attendees of the Nightly Huddle.
• Perform Site Checks at each location within the CTA, Terminals, and the AOA locations that have active construction activities deployed during each shift, including:
  • Check the number of personnel deployed.
  • Verify that the correct shutdown is in hand with the Project Superintendent and posted on the dash of all vehicles.
  • Verify that the correct barricading and signage is in place per approved ASR.
  • Verify all scheduled deliveries are contained within the approved ASR and coordinated at Nightly Huddle.
  • Communicate with Safety and Inspection team regarding compliance of scheduled work.
• If vehicles or equipment are parked curbside without the correct paperwork (an Approved ASR) or there is not a No Cite / No Tow for the specific license plate, contact Airport Police and Airport Operations to have the vehicle or piece of equipment removed from the CTA.
• Take photos of each deployed project working in the CTA, Terminals, and the AOA locations, capturing vehicle and equipment deployment, active construction, vital traffic and passenger movement, as well as important barricades and signage. Label photos with relevant information such as photo description and date/time stamp.
• Produce a Nightly Report that includes both a written narrative and photographic component for each deployed project, covering personnel count, late flight information, and any other relevant documents. Post the Nightly Reports to the CALMSHARE site, save on the V Drive, and distribute to a predetermined stakeholder list.
• Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and schedule for all projects (Owner’s CIP, Maintenance, Airline, Concessionaire, TSA, etc.) currently active within the CTA, Terminals, and AOA locations.
• Act as the responsible party to ensure all construction in public areas has appropriate barricades and signage as per the approved ASR. Work with the contractor to correct deficiencies and report deficiencies to the CALM Sign Shop Manager if additional signage is required.
• Work with The Development Group (TDG) Element representatives, Facilities Maintenance Group (FMUG), Airport Operations (OPS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Information Technology Group (IMTG), TDG Safety/Inspections, and LAWA Airport Police Traffic Officers to develop protocols that facilitate orderly shutdowns with minimum disruption to passengers, tenants, and contractors.
• Meet regularly with the CALM Area Resident Manager Lead and make recommendations concerning procedures, protocols, and staffing.
• Develop appropriate tracking and record-keeping tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Architecture, Aviation, or a related technical field.
• Twenty (20) years of Construction Management field experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of Airport experience or five (5) years of experience in other critical environment facilities.
• Federal Background check required.
• AAAE, LEED, PMP, PE, AICP, or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certifications.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and InDesign.
• Able to review and edit documents in Bluebeam.
• Proven accuracy, reliability, priority setting, and completeness in job accomplishment.
• Demonstrated planning, controlling, organizing, and leadership skills in previous positions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience.
• Ability to work under pressure on high-profile, complicated assignments.
• Ability to understand design and construction intent of projects.

Work Environment

Regular interaction with contractors, airport operations, safety and inspection teams, airport police, and project stakeholders is a core responsibility of this position. Frequent nighttime site visits throughout the CTA, terminals, parking structures, landside roadway areas, and airside/AOA locations are required to support active construction oversight, ASR compliance, field coordination, and timely reporting.

This role is ideal for a construction management professional who is comfortable working overnight in an active airport environment, can make sound decisions under pressure, and brings strong communication, organization, and field coordination skills to a safety-sensitive, highly regulated program.

Physical Demands

• Be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours per day.
• Demonstrate the ability to move freely for up to 8 hours per day.

Pay

This role is salaried/exempt with a base annual salary range of $160,300.00 - $170,300.00, commensurate with skill, education, experience, and work location. This role is bonus eligible after 6 months of employment.
