Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
- Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
- Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
- Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
- Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
- Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
- Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
- Possibly conduct hazardous material surveys, as well as asbestos abatement monitoring services during abatement projects.
- Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
- Notify the Project Engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
Requirements
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
- Experience with materials and lab testing.
- Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications.
- Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
- Understanding of construction or engineering services.
- Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
- Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records.
- Able to manage projects with little/no supervision.
- Must be able to interact well with others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
- Ability to provide status updates independently.
- Be quality-minded and client-focused.
Qualifications
- Strong plus if you have completed the ODOT Certified Technician program.
- Has a Bachelor’s degree in either Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Tech school or Community college graduate.
- Preferred: Associate Degree with 2+ years of additional related work experience.
- 2+ years of related experience.
- Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience.
- Previous experience working for a testing company.
- Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing.
Skills
- Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing.
- Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing, etc.
