Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
- Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
- Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
- Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
- Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
- Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
- Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
- Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
Requirements
- ODOT prequalified: Project Inspector 1 or 2, ODOT Structures Inspector, ODOT Soils and Aggregate Inspector, ODOT Traffic Signal and Lighting Inspector, ODOT Construction Engineer Level 1
- Construction inspection experience on ODOT funded projects.
- Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience is a plus.
- Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing is a plus.
- Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing, etc. is a plus.
- Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections.
- Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.
Qualifications
Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
Experience with materials and lab testing.
Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications.
Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
Understanding of construction or engineering services.
Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records.
Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision.
Demonstrated ability of monitoring construction and demolition environments.
Must be able to interact well with others.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
Ability to provide status updates independently.
