Construction Inspector - Northwest Indiana
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Familiar with company, client, government and industry standards.
- Follows verbal and written instructions.
- Observes and monitors construction for compliance with contract documents and approved shop drawings/material submittals.
- Records field observations and determines acceptability of construction work performed.
- Makes field measurements, computations and records of acceptable work.
- Prepares reports outlining the work performed and the quality of completed and acceptable for payment.
- Calculates the quantity of acceptable completed work for payment.
- Reviews and verifies contractor’s payment applications, proposals, and change order requests.
- Coincides construction activities with owner and assists Project Manager with client on construction related issues.
- Prepares and maintains project records in accordance with the company’s, client’s, and government’s standards.
- Coincides or conducts quality assurance testing, inspections and surveys.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Education And Licensure
- A High School Diploma required.
- INDOT certified technician, or Construction/Civil Engineering degree required.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years continuous experience in the inspection of federally and locally funded transportation projects.
- Knowledge of INDOT standard and procedures.
- Ability to read and comprehend construction documents.
- Understands and follows company standards, demonstrates knowledge of construction techniques, and assists mid to senior level team members with complex projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong mathematics skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable record.
