About the Role

Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators, and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects. Michael Baker is seeking a Construction Inspector to join the team in New Albany!

Responsibilities

  • Inspect construction crews’ work to ensure compliance with contract documents, including plans and specifications on active construction contracts.
  • Identify and inform the project engineer or supervisor of observed problems.
  • Work with the supervisor to address public and contractor questions.
  • Make measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities are tracked for completed work.
  • Monitor material testing needs and perform various INDOT Certified Material tests when needed.
  • Electronically document pay quantities, material requirements, and contractor staff in daily work reports using SiteManager or AWP.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; Associate’s Degree in Construction Technology or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of INDOT construction or related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
  • Strong math (algebra, geometry), communication, and organizational skills.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, all 6 INDOT Certified Technician credentials in short order.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, work in all weather conditions, and accommodate varying shifts and weekends.

Pay

The approximate compensation range for this position is $22/hr to $35/hr. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
