Responsibilities

  • Inspects and monitors construction sites and the various work activities on these sites to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Prepares and submits daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
  • Must adhere to all project contract documentation and testing of materials associated with inspections.
  • Aids in the preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required by the project.
  • Verifies lines and grades of project improvements.
  • Coordinates and performs field testing of materials associated with inspection as required.
  • Implements quantity calculations for pay estimates.
  • Performs analytical calculations such as basic earthwork, grading, profiles, and special staking procedures.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with contractor, owner, and project stakeholders as directed.
  • Act as the on-site Administrator in the absence of the on-site Administrator.
  • Mentor’s technical expertise with others.
  • Participate in Kleinfelder’s Safety Programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years in the field or in trade-related training in a design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or other construction related field.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection, and field testing of construction materials.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
  • Able to work independently, make routine decisions concerning construction work progress.
  • Current/valid State Driver's License REQUIRED with acceptable driving record.
  • Able to pass a fingerprint/background check.
  • Construction field materials testing certifications, i.e. Asphalt, concrete, workzone, pavement marking, environmental, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent to include courses in related work type.

Schedule

Position available in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of VA.
