Construction Inspector

About the Role

As a Construction Inspector, you will support data center and TxDOT construction projects by inspecting field work to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards. You'll monitor daily construction activities, document project progress, track pay quantities, and identify deficiencies or safety concerns that could impact project performance. Working closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers, you'll maintain detailed records, verify installed work, and assist with issue resolution to help keep projects compliant, safe, on schedule, and aligned with contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Observe work for conformance with plans, specifications, and safety.
• Maintain daily reports, photos, and quantity records.
• Track submittals, RFIs, and changes; assist with pay estimates.
• Coordinate with contractors, agencies, and designers on field issues.
• Verify materials testing and certifications per requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of construction inspection experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Work Environment

This field job primarily operates in outdoor work environments that may include exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.

Physical demands may include frequent talking, hearing, standing, moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, balancing, coordination, and occasional sitting or operating a company vehicle. This job may require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
