Job Description

The Preconstruction Estimator prepares conceptual to GMP estimates, performs quantity takeoffs, reviews scopes, and levels subcontractor bids. The role identifies cost risks and value-engineering options while supporting design reviews. Works closely with project and design teams to ensure estimates align with scope, schedule, and constructability.

A well-established construction firm specializing in complex commercial and institutional projects is seeking a Preconstruction Estimator to support early-phase cost planning. Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, schematic, and GMP estimates across multiple trades.
• Perform quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, and cost analysis.
• Solicit and level subcontractor proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support design reviews and advise on cost impacts.
• Collaborate with project management and field teams during project handoff.

Requirements

• 2-7 years of estimating experience, including work on complex or specialized building projects.
• Strong understanding of multi-phase construction environments.
• Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software (Destini, OST, Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, etc.).
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple bids.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, accountable work style.
