Construction Installer Assistant

Earn while you learn a new trade as a Radon Mitigation Installer-Assistant at Boulder Edge Inc in Sterling, VA. We train candidates with transferable skills and experience in construction (basic electrical, roofing, plumbing). Radon mitigation is a growing, recession-proof field focused on creating safe and healthy living spaces.

About the role

Salary starts at $20/hr during a 1-3 month training period, then transitions to full-time. Experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Field Manager to review scheduled jobs and load materials for the day.
• Follow an appointment schedule and maintain communication with Field Manager.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager on job details before and after completion, supply orders, and customer issues.
• Comply with EPA Radon Mitigation Standards during installation.
• Core concrete, cut building materials in walls and roofs, and work in basements, crawlspaces, and attics.
• Run code-compliant wiring to the radon fan (some electrical experience required).
• Practice safe driving with company vehicles and safe tool use (power tools, ladders, occasional roof work).
• Respect private property while performing duties in customers’ homes.
• Drive throughout the DMV service area.

Requirements

• Complete the initial radon mitigation course and pass the NRPP exam within 90 days of hire.
• Clear background check and clean driving record (5 years).
• Pass drug and alcohol tests.
• Technical aptitude with smartphones and email.
• 2+ years of construction experience (basic electrical wiring, PVC plumbing).
• High school diploma or equivalent; some college-level science preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Work authorization in the United States.
• Proficiency in English.

Pay

$20.00 per hour during training. Salary range after training: $30,000–$45,000 annually.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, typically 8:30 AM–4:00 PM, with variations based on workload.
