Job Summary
The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Construction Field Engineer II is primarily responsible for providing technical engineering information to company supervision and crafts to ensure construction work associated with E&I aspects of a project comply with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications.
Responsibilities

- Provides technical and engineering support to the construction team.
- Aids in the administration, planning, coordination, and monitoring of the technical side of the project.
- Reviews and comments on constructability of design as required.
- Conducts value-engineering functions.
- Maintains responsibility for the resolution of technical field issues and the subsequent documentation of the final installations.
- Participates in the management of distribution and control of all drawings and specifications for field use through the field document control technicians, including maintaining an accurate and up-to-date copy of all redlined and As-Built drawings on site.
- Upholds responsibility for managing the field Request for Information (RFI) process and maintaining RFI logs.
- Aids in the preparation of Scopes of Works (SOW) for subcontractors and suppliers, including Technical & Commercial Bid Evaluations, as well as the execution of the contract/purchase order(s).
- Aids in the preparation of change orders, including the review of subcontractor change order proposals for accuracy of quantities, conformance with contract documents and subcontractor scope of work.
- Manages Submittals for Client / Engineering Approval and maintains Submittal Status Log for Matrix and subcontractors.
- Coordinates engineering studies and assists Engineering Discipline Leads in solving engineering and design problems.
- Participates in Construction Work Package & Installation Work Package creation and management.
- Aids in systemizing project scope and prepares sub-system turnover packages.
- Assists in mechanical completion punch list walk downs with Discipline Superintendents and Client Representatives.
- Assists in the creation and sign-off of the mechanical completion punch list items.
- Provides technical assistance to QA/QC, Supply Chain, Subcontracts, HSE, and Project Controls departments as needed to ensure the timely execution and completions of a project, including turnover and close-out.
- Works on special projects assigned and directed by supervisor or the Sr. Construction Engineer.
- Participates in the collection, maintenance, and communication of project constructability concepts and lessons learn.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT is preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in heavy construction engineering required with a focus on Electrical and Instrumentation scopes of work.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation installation including cable tray and conduit routing, cable installation and terminations, switchgear and VFD installation and related discipline design and overall engineering standards.
- Advance Workface Planning (AWP) experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word, Excel, SharePoint.
- Overtime will be required.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
