Job Summary

The Civil, Concrete, Structural Steel (CCS) Construction Engineer II is responsible for providing technical engineering support to ensure construction work complies with engineering standards, codes, and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Company's safety initiatives and adheres to the Code of Business Conduct.
  • Supports the construction team with technical and engineering assistance.
  • Administers, plans, coordinates, and monitors the technical side of the project.
  • Reviews and comments on constructability of design as required.
  • Conducts value-engineering functions.
  • Maintains responsibility for resolving technical field issues and documenting final installations.
  • Manages distribution and control of all drawings and specifications for field use.
  • Participates in the management of the field Request for Information (RFI) process and maintains RFI logs.
  • Assists with the preparation of Scopes of Works (SOW) for subcontractors and suppliers, including Technical & Commercial Bid Evaluations, and the execution of contracts/purchase orders.
  • Assists in the preparation of change orders, reviewing subcontractor change order proposals for accuracy of quantities, conformance with contract documents, and subcontractor scope of work.
  • Manages submittals for client/engineering approval and maintains Submittal Status Logs for matrix and subcontractors.
  • Communicates with subcontractors and vendors to address technical RFIs and scope changes, and documents field resolutions.
  • Coordinates engineering studies and assists Engineering Discipline Leads in solving engineering and design problems.
  • Participates in the creation and management of Construction Work Packages and Installation Work Packages, preparing sub-system turnover packages, and assisting in mechanical completion punch list walk downs.
  • Provides technical assistance to QA/QC, Supply Chain, Subcontracts, HSE, and Project Controls departments as needed.
  • Works on special projects assigned and directed by supervisor or Senior Construction Engineer.
  • Collects, maintains, and communicates project constructability concepts and lessons learned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable.
  • 5+ years related engineering experience.
  • Strong skills in understanding PFDs and P&IDs; 3D and 2D routing, equipment and piping specifications, and development of isometric drawings.
  • Knowledge of API, AWS, and ACI standards, industry practices, and ASME Section VIII.
  • Experience using standard computer programs and familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time-sensitive deadlines.
