Construction Client Accountant

What You’ll Do

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of construction clients
• Personalize payroll, including payroll taxes and filings
• Perform bank reconciliations, sales tax filings, month-end close, billing support, and routine audit/year-end support
• Support job costing, WIP, progress billing, AP/AR, and related construction accounting needs
• Support clients with ongoing accounting needs and day-to-day Sage 100 Contractor accounting workflows
• Maintain accurate records and a clean audit trail across all client work
• Identify and resolve issues independently when possible
• Communicate clearly with clients and follow through on commitments

What This Role Looks Like

• Hands-on construction accounting and payroll work
• Managing a portfolio of clients
• Working independently with a high level of ownership
• Supporting real, day-to-day client accounting needs
• Building trusted relationships with recurring clients
• This role is not ERP implementation or software consulting
• High-level accounting strategy or oversight-only work
• Report writing or data analytics

What You Bring

• Strong construction accounting experience
• Sage 100 Contractor experience strongly preferred
• Hands-on payroll experience, including payroll taxes and filings
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, progress billing, AP/AR, and month-end close
• Hands-on accounting experience with direct responsibility for completing the work, not solely reviewing or overseeing others
• Able to manage multiple clients and priorities independently
• Strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through
• Comfort working in a high-autonomy environment
• Ability to step into an existing client environment and contribute with minimal ramp-up

• Sage 100 Contractor experience
• Union payroll experience
• Experience supporting audits or year-end accounting needs
• Ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accountants

Compensation & Details
