Construction Accountant

About the Role

Join a well-established commercial construction company helping shape the Central Valley through high-quality commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This is more than a traditional accounting role. You'll work closely with project managers and leadership to oversee project financials, monitor job costs, and provide meaningful insight that supports successful project delivery.

The role is onsite in Bakersfield, CA and offers a salary range of $75,000 – $90,000, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage job costing, project budgets, and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare progress billings, retainage schedules, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
• Support month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Partner with project managers to analyze project profitability and forecast costs
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements and maintain accurate project documentation

Requirements

• 3+ years of construction or project accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems such as Sage, CMiC, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar software
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
