Construction Advisory - Associate Director

About the Role

J.S. Held is a global consulting firm combining technical, scientific, financial, and strategic expertise to advise clients on value realization and risk mitigation. We are actively seeking an Associate Director to join the Construction Advisory & Disputes Team, specializing in construction claims and dispute resolution. The candidate will primarily serve as the lead assistant to the Delay Expert(s), providing forensic delay analysis and contributing to expert report preparation. This role involves frequent client interaction and requires preparing and delivering presentations to communicate results.

Responsibilities

• Lead assistant to the Delay Expert(s) on forensic delay analysis
• Contribute to the preparation of expert reports
• Perform advanced data research and manage client relations
• Deliver work to tight deadlines
• Prepare and make presentations to communicate results
• Work collaboratively with the team and deliver commissions to client satisfaction
• Assist in promoting construction advisory services in the industry

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in forensic delay analysis in the construction and engineering industry
• Recognized undergraduate degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, or similar from a leading university
• Proficient in programming software (Primavera 6 and Microsoft Project)
• Chartered professional status, or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years on-site construction experience with engineering or construction firms, or a construction claim/dispute firm
• Excellent oral and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
• Professionalism and client-facing ability; able to build trust
• Strong technical underpinning in project planning
• Relationship building and strong interpersonal skills
• Flexible approach to work
• Understanding of project-based work demands; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Sense of personal responsibility for quality of work

Preferred Qualifications

• Post graduate qualification in construction law (or similar) is desirable
• Chartered professional status, or equivalent
• Fluent in English
• Command of a second language is desirable

Physical & Mental Qualifications

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to travel for various assignments

Pay

Salary range: $125,000 - $150,000 (based on skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, and other factors).
