About the role

Whiting-Turner is a National ENR Top 25 General Contractor that values its employees and fosters a positive and supportive culture. We are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager for various commercial projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, team-based working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs to comply with OSHA standards, environmental laws, and regulations.
  • Ensure all company activities meet or exceed environmental, health, and safety requirements and standards.
  • Maintain records of workplace injuries, incidents, and safety training for compliance and audits.
  • Oversee the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials and ensure proper waste management systems are in place.
  • Work with management to implement improvements based on audit results, incident trends, and employee feedback.
  • Coordinate drills, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid training, to ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Management, Safety Management, or equivalent.
  • Certifications in Environmental, Health, and Safety to include (e.g., OSHA 500, CHST, ASP/GSP Designation).
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
  • Proficiency in EH&S management software and tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead safety teams, conduct training sessions, and influence organizational culture.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and waste management.
  • Ability to work extended hours and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of continuous experience in construction safety.
  • 3 to 20+ years of experience in EH&S management, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Bilingual (preferred).

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and health and safety standards.
  • Advanced sciences and math.

This role offers competitive compensation, including a salary range that is dependent on various factors such as role, level, relevant education, experience, training, skills, and abilities, location, and market and business considerations. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of these factors.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is subject to change at any time, in the Company's discretion, and does not alter the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
