Congenital Cardiac Surgeon

The MaineHealth Maine Medical Center’s Department of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a congenital cardiac surgeon to join their Division of Congenital Cardiac Surgery in Portland, Maine. The congenital heart surgery program at Maine Medical Center is over 50 years old and is the only congenital cardiac surgery program in Northern New England.

About the Role

The surgeon will work with the Director of Congenital Cardiac Surgery to continue to expand the Congenital Cardiac Surgery Division. In addition to pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery, the division also supports the pediatric ECMO and pediatric airway surgical programs.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Director of Congenital Cardiac Surgery to expand the Congenital Cardiac Surgery Division.
• Support the pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery services at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
• Collaborate with the seven members of the Adult Cardiac Surgery program, specializing in Mitral Valve Repair, Aortic Surgery, and Mechanical Circulatory Support.
• Mentor residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Program.

Requirements

• Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
• Completion of United States Fellowship/specialty training in congenital cardiac surgery.
• ABTS certification in Congenital Cardiac Surgery is preferred.
• At least five years of experience in neonatal and adult congenital cardiac surgery.

Pay

This Position Offers Teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Program. Academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
