Conformal Coating - Touch-Up
Regal Technology Partners is a vertically integrated aerospace and defense manufacturing platform, purpose-built for the programs that demand precision, reliability, and compliance rigor. We design and manufacture mission-critical electronic communication systems for prime contractors, Tier 1 suppliers, and government customers operating in the most regulated corners of the defense industrial base.
About the role
The Conformal Coating – Touch-up position is responsible for performing detailed manual application and correction of conformal coating on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies. This role ensures coating accuracy in areas requiring additional coverage or removal of excess material. The position supports quality standards by using precision tools to verify that coated assemblies meet visual and functional requirements, while following strict process and cleanliness guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Inspect PCBs under magnification and UV/black light to identify areas where coating is missing, thin, damaged, or uneven.
- Apply conformal coating to identified areas using a brush, syringe, or other approved application method.
- Ensure connectors, test points, and other designated keep-out areas remain uncoated and are not accidentally covered during touch-up.
- Repair coating damaged during assembly, testing, rework, or handling, restoring coverage to specification.
- Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and specified coating thickness requirements per IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria.
- Mix or prepare conformal coating materials according to approved procedures, mix ratios, and pot-life requirements as needed.
- Perform self-inspection of completed touch-up work and withhold assemblies that do not meet standards.
- Handle chemicals safely, including proper use of PPE, SDS review, and hazardous material handling and disposal procedures.
- Complete accurate production and material records, including lot numbers and inspection results.
- Maintain work area in compliance with 5S, ESD, FOD, and safety procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to accommodate fluctuating production requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
