Responsibilities
- Work from computerized Quality Management System (QMS) components including production schedules, inventory records, pull lists, bills of materials, Engineering Change Notifications (ECN), random cycle count lists, and work instructions.
- Build compressor sub-assemblies, fit, adjust, and attach defined purchased parts, coils, and brackets.
- Clean, cut, and run pipes bent to specified configuration, making minor adjustments as required.
- Assemble, fit, and attach fittings, valves, and purchased parts. Install in accordance with defined sequence of operations.
- Adjust expansion valves in accordance with defined requirements and mark as prescribed.
- Braze fittings onto copper tubing in accordance with specifications and safety requirements and stage for installation in base unit.
- Install sub-assemblies into base unit. Install suction line filters.
- Run piping in accordance with prescribed requirements where holes are generally pre-drilled. Install valve cores in keeping with requirements.
- Install high pressure switches and pressure transducers onto brass fittings and tighten components to specification with calibrated torque wrench.
- Install bushings, bracing and bracketing ensuring proper support of pipes and other components.
- Perform final brazing on all components to prepare for pressurization.
- Pressurize the system with nitrogen to specified limits and conduct leak tests. Note and repair any leaks, re-test as required and insulate suction line piping as specified.
- Install vacuum pumps, apply vacuum to system and check and record microns. Validate refrigerant type and charge system to specified weight, install valve caps and perform final refrigerant leak check with specified gauge to ensure the absence of leaks. Log the type and weight of refrigerant and related compressor identification data.
- Photograph completed units in areas including electrical cabinet, heaters, coils, blowers, assemblies, compressor compartments, sensor locations, and other components or areas of units as required to document original condition and configuration of units.
- Record and track hours to specific jobs numbers. Ensure progressive productivity is achieved. Inspect each unit before movement to the next line function. Validate part numbers, revisions, and quantity, and inspect parts for damage. Examine assembly drawings for ensure they match BOM. Notify Supervisor of any component, part or drawing anomalies.
- Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
- Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Use hand tools, handheld power, and pneumatic tools, pallet jack, crane, brazing torch, torque wrench, micron gauge, leak detector, and other calibrated tools.
