About the role

At Scull Construction, a concrete form setter is responsible for setting and building forms for concrete placement and construction. The position’s skill set is continuously increasing by working with an exceptional team that prides itself on doing some of the finest and most challenging projects in the northern plains region.

Responsibilities

  • Carry forms, clean tools, tie rebar, and use a rebar bender
  • Set and strip forms, and pour and finish flatwork
  • Set forms to line and level
  • Maintain clean work area and job site
  • Operate equipment such as gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift
  • Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task
  • Be dependable to your team: You work as a team and progress as a team
  • Assist with all tasks; even if it is below your skill level

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of concrete experience
  • Pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing
  • Have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work
  • Able to arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you
  • Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy
  • Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests
  • Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities
  • Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product
  • Identify and communicate any job site hazards
  • Safely and correctly operate all equipment and manual/power tools
  • Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order
  • Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers
  • Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed
  • Willingness to travel out-of-town
  • Work overtime as required, including some weekends
  • Maintain acceptable personal hygiene
  • Dress appropriately for working conditions
  • Ability to instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers in a positive and encouraging manner

Physical Requirements

  • Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift
  • Able to safely climb up and down ladders
  • Able to work alone once instructions have been given
  • Able to complete a full day's assignments involving one or more of the following: Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment and any other safety-related equipment
  • Able to work from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other safe work platforms over 10 feet
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow, depending on the job location
  • Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required
  • Able to maintain acceptable personal hygiene
  • Dress appropriately for working conditions
