What You Will Do

The Computing and Artificial Intelligence (CAI) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking graduate students for an internship program. Interns will work on various projects including numerical methods, physical model development, software engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing. Projects are tailored to individual skills and interests, and interns will collaborate closely with one of four CAI Division groups.

What You Need

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in Computer Science or Mathematics (or related) disciplines.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent).
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
  • Computer programming skills in Python, C++, etc., in support of scientific or engineering applications.
  • Experience applying advanced mathematical methods to develop models of physical phenomena.
  • Familiarity with cutting-edge computational research areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional scientific context.
  • A commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting.

Desired Qualifications

  • Computer programming skills in Python, C++, etc., in support of scientific or engineering applications.

Work Location

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
