About the role
First Solar interns work globally in various departments including research and development, marketing, project development, information technology, engineering, energy services, and more. Interns are offered real-world experience and opportunities to develop new skills.
Responsibilities
- Help Develop pipelines that extract significant features from key data sets.
- Build custom analytical tools.
- Contribute to automated scripting and analysis for larger software packages.
- Support the team to perform data extraction, cleaning, analysis, and deliver actionable insights.
- Contribute to feature selection and development of machine learning models to uncover value of data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and perform ad hoc analysis.
- Present accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team upon completion of the internship.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing an Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field degree.
- Must currently be enrolled in a Masters program, fulfilling a graduation requirement.
- Ability to review coding manuals to learn new syntax independently.
- Ability to review and understand the purpose of existing scripts.
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and machine learning.
- Skilled in exploration data analysis and feature engineering.
- Familiarity with SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Robust knowledge and experience with statistical methods and classification models.
- Demonstrated analytical, multi-tasking, problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills.
- Clear communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience with fundamental technologies in a Microsoft environment: Windows OS, Office 365, etc.
Qualifications
- Must have completed at least one year of college coursework.
- Must be enrolled in a Masters program.
- Must be available for a minimum of 3 months during the Fall semester.
Skills

Benefits
Interns are eligible to register their internship with their university.
Pay
$29.00-$30.00/hr.
Schedule
Hybrid schedule, combining remote and in-office work.
Physical Requirements
