Computerized Machine Operator (CMO) 3rd Shift – TDI

TDI has been a leading designer and manufacturer of turbine-powered start systems for 40+ years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton, OH is part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company. Unison is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site, Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry.

About the role

Be proficient and perform CMO operations in assigned cell. Work under general direction with minimal coaching in a team environment, following established Lean Manufacturing guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Use pneumatic tools, hand tools, and calibrated gauges to perform work
• Operate machine(s) in a prescribed safe manner
• Perform daily preventative maintenance
• Verify calibration and maintain eQuals requirements
• Use standard shop measuring devices (calipers and micrometers)
• Basic housekeeping of cell (5S)
• Review, understand, and follow work instructions, required specifications, and blueprints to perform manufacturing operations
• Ensure all company paperwork is filled out accurately
• Fully understand blueprints and identify revision levels
• Produce error-free products and meet production goals
• Cross-train and work in a team environment
• Understand safety requirements within assigned area and operate within company safety guidelines
• Keep team informed of work progress, timelines, and issues
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in service cells with computerized/manual machines and manufacturing operations

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• 6 months of manufacturing-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining
• Must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day
• Must be able to work with upper body extremities
• Must be able to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally (items over 30 pounds require assistance)
• Required to pass certification standards test and eye examination
• Willing to undergo on-the-job training to obtain CVP certification within the first 6 months
• Willing to participate in MRO drug-free workplace program
• Must be able to work mandatory overtime when required
• This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; must prove U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior assembly and/or disassembly experience; prior machine operating experience
• Experience with manual or automated welding processes
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection gauges
• Education or experience in programming and operations of programmable controllers
• PC experience with email, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and Word
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and a cellular work environment
• Ability/prior experience reading and understanding routers and process instructions
• Tube bending experience
• CVP in Hydro and/or Boroscope
• Knowledge of swage and shrink processes
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and vendors; works collaboratively and respects others
• Embraces ambiguity and engages others in idea generation
• Actively participates in and supports a team environment

Pay

$22.50 per hour
