Computer Education and Keyboarding

About the role

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks middle school teachers for our fifth through eighth-grade classrooms in the 2026-2027 school year. The purpose of this course is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Business Management and Administration career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to instruction in introductory keyboarding, introductory word processing, introductory electronic presentation, introductory computer hardware, introductory Internet, and skills for business applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and learning activities in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials, and technology appropriate to the course content and in accordance with current practices.
• Assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals.
• Provide information regarding careers in the Business Management and Administration career cluster.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Business Education 6-12
• At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
• Highly preferred qualifications include CTE Certification, ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress), and two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level.

• Possesses a valid Florida teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Business Education 6-12.
• Passes a background check, as required by law.

Pay and Compensation

The current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000. Access to Individual health benefits (including medical, dental and vision). 403(b) retirement program with a company match. All staff members receive individualized support and professional development. This role will only be eligible for instructional stipends if they have their FLDOE certification.

Schedule

• K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm, K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 student dismissal is at 1:30pm
• High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School student dismissal is at 12:30pm.
