Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and valid Oklahoma certification in the subject area taught; meets Oklahoma State Department of Education and federal standards for a qualified teacher.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written information; skill in writing required reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from others.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches district-approved curriculum using a variety of instructional techniques aligned with continuous school improvement and increasing student achievement.
  • Minimizes non-instructional routines to maximize time on task.
  • Guides the learning process by establishing clear short-term and long-term objectives for all lessons and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Actively participates in collaborative planning, data analysis, and instruction with peers and district initiatives.
  • Ensures students demonstrate mastery of district objectives through projects, daily assignments, and performance on formative and summative assessments.
  • Participates in district-approved professional development to meet State Department of Education and district requirements.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests, with clear behavior expectations.
  • Develops and maintains lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with district curriculum, differentiated to student needs.
  • Communicates regularly with parents both inside and outside the normal contract day.
  • Performs teaching and additional duties, including co-curricular and extracurricular assignments, as needed to maintain district educational programs.
  • Attends all required meetings as directed by the superintendent and principal.
  • Complies with assigned duty times of the teacher contract day.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions

  • Primarily inside working conditions; some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty.

Physical Standards

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective devices.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to ensure student safety, including running, intervening in student behavior situations, and assisting students as needed.
