About the role

The Application Specialist works with various administrators to maintain the student information systems. The Application Specialist will support the scheduling process, verify student data for reports, monitor, validate, and maintain student data files, and produce special reports as needed by the administration.

Supervision

The Application Specialist is supervised by the Information Systems Specialist and also receives directions from district and building administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Support the scheduling process in conjunction with the Information Systems Specialist and school administrators.
  • Oversee the production of the online course catalog and processing of students' scheduling requests.
  • Oversee and implement grade reporting including preparation of report cards, creation of honor roll, class rank, and transcripts.
  • Verify student data required for district, federal, and state reports.
  • Monitor and validate data in relation to pre-K–grade 12 student information systems.
  • Maintain files as needed to process student data cycles such as year-end rollover and grade level and school changes.
  • Assist non-technical end users with successfully navigating program systems.
  • Support parents and staff with all aspects of PowerSchool and other essential programs.
  • Work in systems such as PowerSchool, other online vendor applications (e.g., student textbooks, learning software apps), in-house applications, various databases, Google & Microsoft platform apps, and other duties related to information systems and databases as assigned by supervisors.

  • Ability to complete assignments independently, including handling sensitive and confidential student information.
  • Knowledge of student policies related to attendance, student eligibility, graduation requirements, promotion, and loss of credit.
  • Ability to operate a computer, server, calculator, copying equipment, PDA, and other required equipment.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with office personnel, staff, parents, and the general public.

Qualifications

The skills and knowledge would generally be acquired with a Bachelor's Degree combined with education and work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Pay

Starting salary: $57,110 per year.

CT Motor Vehicle operator's license required.
