Position Summary
The Compounding Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the compounding schedule is met and overseeing the water purification system.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides firsthand practical knowledge of the compounding process to the compounding manager for efficiency improvements and validating new batches.
- Aids in the validation or scale-up of compounded bulk batches.
- Maintains the compounding schedule and ensures compliance with customer specifications and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensures all documentation related to compounding adheres to FDA, GMP, and internal quality policies.
- Maintains and directs the maintenance of compounding equipment and schedules preventative maintenance.
- Monitors and documents the operation of the water purification system, ensuring it operates within quality guidelines.
- Conducts daily checks and readings for water quality parameters and reports any trends to the quality department.
- Proposes improvements to the compounding process and water purification system.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a sterile compounding pharmacy setting.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterile compounding procedures.
- Proficient in sterile compounding methodologies, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and hazardous drug handling.
- Knowledge of USP and other relevant regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with pharmacists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical information, identify and troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other relevant software.
- Registered and in good standing with the relevant state pharmacy board (if applicable).
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Pharmacy Technology, Chemistry).
- Familiarity with pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing fundamentals such as 5S, Kanban, Visual Systems.
