Position Summary

The Compounding Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the compounding schedule is met and overseeing the water purification system.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provides firsthand practical knowledge of the compounding process to the compounding manager for efficiency improvements and validating new batches.
  • Aids in the validation or scale-up of compounded bulk batches.
  • Maintains the compounding schedule and ensures compliance with customer specifications and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures all documentation related to compounding adheres to FDA, GMP, and internal quality policies.
  • Maintains and directs the maintenance of compounding equipment and schedules preventative maintenance.
  • Monitors and documents the operation of the water purification system, ensuring it operates within quality guidelines.
  • Conducts daily checks and readings for water quality parameters and reports any trends to the quality department.
  • Proposes improvements to the compounding process and water purification system.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a sterile compounding pharmacy setting.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterile compounding procedures.
  • Proficient in sterile compounding methodologies, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and hazardous drug handling.
  • Knowledge of USP and other relevant regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with pharmacists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical information, identify and troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other relevant software.
  • Registered and in good standing with the relevant state pharmacy board (if applicable).
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Pharmacy Technology, Chemistry).
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing fundamentals such as 5S, Kanban, Visual Systems.
