About the role

As a Composite Prototype Technician – Level 1 or Level 2 located in Magna, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, contributing to the latest advancements in the missile defense industry. This position is 100% onsite and involves working as part of a team in the Carbon/Carbon manufacturing facility to fabricate 3D Composites Carbon/Carbon Rocket Motor Nozzle Integral Throat Entry components and ablative structures. You will use automated textile weaving machinery and high pressure/temperature autoclaves.

Travel is required for this role, up to 10% of the time. This position’s standard work schedule is weekend nights, 12 hours, 6pm to 6 am.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate 3D composite weaving machines and Densification Autoclaves, including assembly of pre-forms and routing/lacing of graphite fiber spools.
• Continuously monitor machinery to ensure weaving is completed according to established planning and procedures.
• Perform duties associated with the Densification process, including set-up, operation, and monitoring of high temperature and high pressure equipment.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control and design specifications.
• Participate in programs or functional team projects developing process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling.
• Pass all job-specific or specialized training programs required for core tasks or specialized assignments.
• Perform safe handling of hazardous waste materials for disposal.
• Understand and apply stringent procedures to assigned duties, with ethics, compliance, and quality of work being essential.
• Work shift work, including weekends and holidays.
• Safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
• Acquire and maintain Employee Possessor (EP) status under the Safe Explosives Act (SEA).
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Currently possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
• Able to acquire and maintain Employee Possessor (EP) status under the Safe Explosives Act (SEA).
• Must pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA).
• Must be able to work shift work, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Level 1

• High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
• 0-2 years of related Composite or Mechanical work experience.
• Preferred: Associate's degree or Technical Certificate related to composite material.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2

• High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
• 2-4 years of related Composite or Mechanical work experience.
• Preferred: Associate's degree or Technical Certificate related to composite material.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $44,400.00 - $74,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $52,700.00 - $87,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Schedule

This position’s standard work schedule is weekend nights, 12 hours, 6pm to 6 am.
