About the role

The Compliance Specialist supports the compliance needs of Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine (IUSM) by managing compliance-related information, systems, and reporting processes across the medical school's multi-site academic, research, and clinical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and manages compliance systems and workflows
  • Escalates, coordinates, and monitors management plans
  • Tracks deadlines for disclosures, audits, and other related regulatory matters
  • Collects, organizes, and maintains regulatory and compliance-related data, including but not limited to faculty disclosures, monitoring reports, and audit findings
  • Develops dashboards and reports for school leadership
  • Ensures information integrity and confidentiality in all compliance systems
  • Receives and reviews faculty conflict of interest disclosures; ensures completeness and accuracy
  • Identifies potential regulatory and compliance issues and escalate to the Senior Associate General Counsel, Executive Director, and/or Executive Associate Dean (EAD) for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (FAPD) as necessary
  • Develops and implements systems for timely review and processing of faculty pre-approval requests for outside activity, per the newly revised IU Conflicts of Interest (COI) policy (BOT-34)
  • Maintains documentation of investigations and corrective actions
  • Assists in preparing materials for leadership review, committees, and other communication needs
  • Supports compliance and regulatory education and outreach initiatives by providing data insights, preparing resources and materials, and engaging in curricular efforts as needed
  • Provides experienced and specialized reporting and data analysis services to ensure and support the university's compliance with various applicable laws and institutional policies
  • Generates, compiles, and analyzes institutional data to meet various compliance reporting obligations and/or to identify areas of concern and improvement
  • Responsible for submitting certain reports required by state and federal laws and regulations to the appropriate agency by the relevant deadline
  • Partners and collaborates with other university offices on data collection, surveys and reporting related to compliance; represents the department on data and/or compliance-related committees and initiatives
  • Stays abreast of law changes and current with best practices related to data collection, assessment, storage and reporting
  • Produces ad-hoc data reporting and analysis services for investigations and decision support

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in social science, statistics, information science, or a related field)
  • 2 years of analysis and reporting experience working with data sources and data sets, preferably related to employment

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's, JD, etc.) preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical center or research environment preferred

Pay

$65,000.00 - 70,000.00 annually based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications
