About the role

The Nebraska Department of Revenue (DOR) is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our Lincoln or Omaha office as a Compliance Revenue Agent. This individual will assist taxpayers in resolving business or individual accounts that are delinquent in filing returns or paying tax liabilities. The Agent’s role is to help the taxpayer correct these delinquencies in a variety of ways. This person will learn how to answer taxpayer questions regarding Nebraska regulations, statutes, forms, refunds, or questions on getting licensed with DOR for a permit.

This position is in-office only and does not sponsor Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Optional Practical Training (OPT) (Form I-983) or non-immigrant work visas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist taxpayers in resolving delinquent business or individual accounts for filing returns or paying tax liabilities.
  • Answer taxpayer questions regarding Nebraska regulations, statutes, forms, refunds, and licensing with DOR.
  • Utilize collection procedures and independent judgment to determine why a taxpayer is not in compliance.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely to express ideas and set priorities.
  • Relate effectively with people representing a variety of backgrounds.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in business, or
  • Two years of experience with tax return preparation, business ownership and operation, account research and analysis, or interpretation and application of policies, laws, rules, or regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of customer service or comparable work experience.

  • Excel, Word, Oracle, and Outlook.
