About the role

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Department of Athletics is seeking a Compliance Manager to join the Seawolf Athletics team. The position is part of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and oversees NCAA and conference compliance for 13 teams across Division 1 and Division II levels.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and maintain a supportive compliance environment
  • Ensure education and resources are available to coaches, staff, and student-athletes
  • Collaborate with coaches, faculty, and campus partners to ensure students meet NCAA and conference requirements
  • Build trust within the department and foster a supportive compliance environment
  • Communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, including students, coaches, faculty, and staff
  • Navigate the unique challenges of balancing athletic and academic commitments

Requirements

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field and five years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in NCAA compliance or a related area within a higher education or athletics environment
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations specific to the GNAC conference
  • Knowledge of data platforms and institutional degree audit software (e.g., Teamworks, DegreeWorks, Banner)
  • FERPA certification
  • GNAC and NCAA required learning modules completed within 30 days of the job start date
  • UA Safe Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date
  • Unrestricted Alaska driver's license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of accepting the job

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, particularly those related to amateurism, recruiting, financial aid, eligibility, and NIL
  • Proven skills in policy development, regulatory interpretation, investigative processes, and proficiency in database management (Banner and Teamworks), Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), Google Workspace, PDF editing tools, and DocuSign
  • Sound judgment, integrity, discretion when handling sensitive information, and ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders
