Compliance HIM Specialist
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance HIM Specialist to support the Compliance team with medical record retrieval, EMR access coordination, and administrative support for compliance medical audits. This remote role is ideal for a healthcare administrative professional who is organized, confidential, and comfortable working with electronic medical record systems.
Compensation
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour. Full-time, benefit eligible, with PTO and paid holidays. Remote.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve patient medical records to support Compliance Medical Auditors.
- Coordinate hospital EMR access requests for Compliance Medical Auditor staff.
- Request and maintain EMR access to assigned hospitals.
- Use systems such as Microsoft Office and various EHR/EMR platforms, including Epic, PowerChart, Meditech, Commure Pro, HealthShare Universal, and related tools.
- Request medical records via RingCentral as needed.
- Keep the Compliance Manager and assigned auditors informed of issues related to medical record retrieval.
- Generate daily Hold Reports in Commure Pro and export requests into HealthShare Universal.
- Assist with medical records administrative duties, audit preparation, system testing, meeting minutes, and audit schedule support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of six months of medical office or healthcare setting experience required.
- Knowledge of modern office equipment and hospital EMR record retrieval processes.
- Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, and telephone etiquette skills.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and maintain accurate records and files.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Terminology Certification.
- MRT certification.
- CBCS Certification.
- Knowledge of Commure Pro.
