About the role
The Compliance and Licensing Specialist position at BSNC Government Services, LLC is based in Anchorage, AK. This role oversees state and local business licensing for parent and subsidiary entities, maintains accurate records, and supports various regulatory compliance efforts.
Responsibilities
- Licensing & Registrations
- Oversee state and local business licensing for parent and subsidiary entities, including business, contractor, security, DBE, mining, and professional licenses.
- Maintain accurate, current records across all jurisdictions.
- Research jurisdictional licensing requirements; prepare, submit, and track renewal applications across multiple states.
- Manage DBE certifications, applications, and reporting.
- Support bonding administration and renewal processes, coordinating documentation and tracking timelines.
- Career with internal departments to ensure all licensing activities meet agency and corporate requirements.
- SAM & Entity Management
- Maintain and update SAM.gov registrations, ensuring accuracy in NAICS codes, revenue data, and points of contact.
- Maintain SBA Small Business Search (SBS) and DUNS/UEI records for all subsidiaries; resolve discrepancies and document corrective actions promptly.
- Monitor entity status to ensure renewals, certifications, and representations are submitted accurately and on time.
- SBA & Federal Program Compliance
- Career SBA filings, correspondence, and certifications for all subsidiaries, including 8(a), Mentor-Protégé, HUBZone, and Joint Venture programs.
- Prepare and submit SBA 8(a), Mentor-Protégé, and HUBZone applications via MySBA.
- Manage SBA annual reviews, certifications, business plan updates, Participant Benefits Reports, and other required reporting.
- Draft, maintain, and update Joint Venture (JV) and Mentor-Protégé agreements; prepare and submit JV quarterly financials and offer documents.
- Career Bona Fide Office certifications and renewals; maintain internal SBA tracking systems for data accuracy and audit readiness.
- Monitor SBA and federal compliance updates; attend relevant conferences, webinars, and training to stay current on regulatory changes.
- Corporate Compliance, Reporting & Documentation
- Coordinate corporate formation filings, entity updates, and new company setups, including Articles of Incorporation, EIN, DUNS/UEI, and SAM registration.
- File state annual reports; manage registered agent services, invoices, and payment tracking.
- Maintain compliance documentation in SharePoint and internal databases; ensure records are organized, current, and audit-ready.
- Career with Accounting, Finance, and HR to support government contracting compliance, including revenue tracking, tax documentation, accounts receivable, and invoicing.
- Manage the Compliance Calendar to ensure all recurring filings, renewals, and reports are completed on time.
- Risk Management & General Support
- Identify areas of potential non-compliance and coordinate corrective policies and controls; report violations or risks to Compliance leadership promptly.
- Assist in developing centralized databases to track corporate and government compliance activities.
- Respond to internal requests for licensing, SAM updates, and compliance support; assist with contract kickoff meetings and compliance onboarding.
- Provide internal compliance and licensing training to staff as needed, including preparation of instructional materials.
- Uphold confidentiality, corporate governance, and ethical standards across all compliance activities.
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Accounting, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum 5 years of experience in a legal, administrative, or professional services environment with demonstrated responsibility for document preparation, recordkeeping, and deadline management.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics: Experience drafting, formatting, and managing formal correspondence, legal documents, and multi-party filings with a high degree of accuracy.
- Background in billing coordination, accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, or financial recordkeeping, including preparation of business tax documentation or financial reports.
- Familiarity with federal, state, or agency-specific compliance requirements preferred; experience in a regulated environment with structured filing deadlines is highly applicable.
- Experience with Alaska Native Corporations, tribal entities, or SBA programs (8(a), HUBZone, Mentor-Protégé) preferred but not required; willingness to develop this knowledge through training and professional development is expected.
- Working knowledge of legal and regulatory document types, including correspondence, agreements, certifications, and government forms.
- Understanding of accounts payable/receivable processes, financial recordkeeping, and basic business tax documentation.
- Knowledge of SBA programs (8(a), HUBZone, Mentor-Protégé, DBE) and federal small business compliance requirements, or willingness to build this expertise.
- Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows – understanding how work moves through a company.
- Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software.
- Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.
- Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles – awareness of proper handling of sensitive information.
