About the Role
The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and servicing of large manufacturing equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts to ensure optimal working condition.
- Identify root causes of unexpected breakdowns and repair machines quickly to decrease downtime.
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts; order and install replacement parts as needed.
- Prepare reports documenting work performed.
- Maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies by cleaning, organizing, inventorying, and stocking.
- Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance and collaborate with department heads on new products or required modifications.
- Make necessary modifications, implement test runs, and confer with product managers regarding results to adjust machinery as required.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, present them to leadership, and participate in solution implementation.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all mandatory areas to promote a zero-accident culture.
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational certificate in a relevant field (e.g., welding, maintenance, electrical) preferred.
- Ability to take and pass internal required testing.
- Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents to diagnose equipment problems.
- Good computer literacy for entering work records.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; multilingual preferred.
- Ability to handle and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and a sense of urgency.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work extended shifts, including holidays, weekends, or overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in cold/humid or hot/dusty environments.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crawling, stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and reaching to service machinery.
- Ability to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
