About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and servicing of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts to ensure optimal working condition.
- Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime.
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts; order and install replacement parts as needed.
- Prepare reports documenting work performed.
- Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
- Collaborate with department heads regarding new products and required modifications.
- Make necessary modifications, implement test runs, and confer with product managers regarding results; make additional alterations as required.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, present to leadership, and implement or participate in solutions.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all mandatory areas to promote a zero-accident culture.
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational certificate in an appropriate field (e.g., welding, maintenance, electrical) preferred.
- Ability to take and pass internal required testing.
- Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc., to diagnose equipment problems.
- Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate programs.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; multi-lingual strongly preferred.
- Ability to handle and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and a strong sense of urgency.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work extended shifts (holidays, weekends, and/or extended hours) as business needs require.
- Ability to work in cold/humid or hot/dusty environments as needed.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crawling, stooping, kneeling, etc., with ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed.
- Ability to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

- Wear required protective equipment in all mandatory areas.
