About the role

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and servicing of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts to ensure optimal working condition.
  • Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts; order and install replacement parts as needed.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborate with department heads regarding new products and required modifications.
  • Make necessary modifications, implement test runs, and confer with product managers regarding results; make additional alterations as required.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, present to leadership, and implement or participate in solutions.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all mandatory areas to promote a zero-accident culture.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational certificate in an appropriate field (e.g., welding, maintenance, electrical) preferred.
  • Ability to take and pass internal required testing.
  • Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc., to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate programs.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; multi-lingual strongly preferred.
  • Ability to handle and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and a strong sense of urgency.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work extended shifts (holidays, weekends, and/or extended hours) as business needs require.
  • Ability to work in cold/humid or hot/dusty environments as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crawling, stooping, kneeling, etc., with ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed.
  • Ability to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Safety Requirements

  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Wear required protective equipment in all mandatory areas.
