Complex & Commercial Litigation Associate Location: Garden City, NY Experience: 2nd-5th Year Associate Job Description A well-established New York law firm is seeking a 2nd-5th year Litigation Associate to join its Garden City office and work directly with accomplished litigation partners on a broad range of substantive commercial and complex litigation matters.The practice represents major businesses, financial institutions, municipalities, public officials, developers, and other law firms in significant disputes throughout New York. Matters include complex commercial litigation, municipal litigation, environmental disputes, and appellate proceedings in both state and federal courts, with a strong emphasis on New York State Supreme Court's Commercial Division.This role is ideal for an associate with strong writing skills, sound judgment, and experience handling substantive litigation who wants meaningful responsibility, direct partner mentorship, and the opportunity to develop into a well-rounded litigator. Responsibilities Draft substantive motions, legal briefs, memoranda, and court submissions that require minimal revision before filing.Manage substantial portions of discovery, including preparing for and defending depositions, taking depositions, and coordinating deposition strategy.Handle legal research and analysis involving complex commercial, municipal, environmental, and other civil litigation matters.Assist with case strategy, hearings, interim applications, and trial preparation.Work on matters in New York state courts, including the Commercial Division, as well as federal courts.Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and the court as appropriate, with increasing independence as experience develops. Qualifications 2-5 years of substantive litigation experience at a law firm.Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to produce polished, court-ready work.Experience drafting substantive briefs and motions and managing meaningful portions of litigation matters.Exposure to depositions, discovery, and complex commercial or civil disputes.Strong academic credentials and experience at a firm offering exposure to substantive litigation matters preferred.New York Bar admission required.
