About the Role

Guides successful completion of major engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Serves as a recognized authority within the field; consulted extensively by associates and others.
  • Anticipates and resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
  • Balances technical product, cost, and schedule in problem-solving approaches.
  • Works without appreciable direction; work is reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results.
  • Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments; makes decisions and recommendations recognized as authoritative.
  • Provides engineering ownership of all seating assets.
  • Analyzes seating designs for DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) principles and owns continuous improvement processes.
  • Communicates and documents design changes using standard processes.
  • Estimates scope of design to ensure accurate planning of baseline block change assignments.
  • Acts as technical focal point to the design engineering organization.
  • Maintains current knowledge of developments in specialty and related aircraft fields to recommend innovations improving quality and effectiveness of company products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines.
  • Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees: limited to 2 years for Master’s and 4 years for PhD in applicable fields.
  • Advanced knowledge of Gulfstream seating design and associated engineering and certification requirements.
  • Experience designing aircraft interior furnishings (furniture, panels, seats, etc.) and systems (water/waste, oxygen, electrical routing, etc.) using CATIA V5 in accordance with FAA certification requirements (Part 25 and 135) and company design standards.
  • Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • Aircraft design experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
