About the role
The Competitive Sports Manager assists the Competitive Sports Coordinator in advising 15+ clubs under Campus Recreation. This position reports to the Competitive Sports Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current American Red Cross certifications in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid; follow emergency care procedures in the event of an injury or emergency.
- Collaborate as a “team player” with supervisors, officials, peers, and all other Campus Recreation employees.
- Understand and abide by all Campus Recreation employee policies and procedures.
- Educate participants on the benefits of involvement in Campus Recreation events.
- Attend mandatory meetings, orientations, and staff development workshops.
- Hold weekly office hours and biweekly meetings with club leaders to track club progress.
- Provide excellent customer service for Sport Club leaders and members at all times.
- Lead Sport Club Leadership Meetings by presenting pertinent information to club leaders.
- Update Competitive Sports websites, records, files, paperwork, and databases to ensure accuracy.
- Understand and enforce the policies and procedures outlined in the Sport Club Handbook.
- Assist with individual Sport Clubs budgeting.
- Monitor Sport Clubs' progress by approving requests and holding clubs accountable for Sport Club Handbook infractions.
- Prepare nightly materials for Competitive Sports Supervisor shifts, ensuring all necessary forms are available at practices, events, and games.
- Serve on the Sport Club Council (SCC), which updates policies in the Sport Club Handbook, determines Student Fee Allocation and Activity Waiver Allocations, hears infraction punishment appeals, and addresses similar matters.
- Be knowledgeable of Campus Recreation programs and services to advocate for Campus Recreation effectively.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Competitive Sports Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator.
Requirements
- At least one semester of experience within the Competitive Sports program or as a Campus Recreation Office Staff employee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others.
- Basic knowledge of recreational/sporting activities, Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and other technologies.
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and standard First Aid Certifications.
Pay
Hourly pay rate: $12.00
