About the role
The starting pay range for this position begins at $19.44/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Flexibility: This is a position averaging 24 hours per week (3pm - 11pm), with a $1.25/hr shift differential for second shift work.
Responsibilities
- Operate within all functions and operations of the Biltmore Company Police Department
- Enforce North Carolina laws and regulations
- Prevent crime and protect life and property
- Perform vehicle and foot patrol of the property
- Investigate incidents and conduct wildlife management
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Current North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification required
- Prior experience in law enforcement and guest service setting preferred
- Basic knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, practices, procedures, and techniques of police operations required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word and computers; ability to quickly learn Biltmore’s reporting systems and protocols
- First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications required
- Valid NC Driver's License with a clean driving record and at least 18 years of age
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and seeing
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and crawling
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate various law enforcement equipment and weapons
- Lift and move up to 150 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, night, and adjusting focus
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as arresting, subduing suspects, pursuing fleeing suspects, rescuing people, and operating law enforcement vehicles
Essential Job Duties
- Participate in the development of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and priorities
- Conduct law enforcement programs and activities
- Carry out special investigations as needed
- Work rotating schedules including weekdays, weekends, and holidays
- Evaluate evidence, witnesses, and suspects in criminal cases
- Attend in-service training and other training events
- Prepare and submit incident reports regarding property-related incidents
- Meet with other law enforcement officials and community/business representatives
- Attend regional and state police conferences and meetings
