Company Police Officer (BLET Certification Required) 3rd Shift - Full Time

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $19.44/hour, based on qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. This position includes a $2/hour shift differential for third shift, resulting in a pay rate of $21.44/hour.

Schedule

Full-time position working 35+ hours per week. Typical hours are 6pm - 6am on a 12-hour shift rotation (36 hours one week, 48 the next), averaging 44 hours per week.

About the role

The Company Police Officer is responsible for operating within all functions and operations of the Biltmore Company Police Department, enforcing North Carolina laws and regulations, preventing crime, and protecting life and property. Work involves vehicle and foot patrol of the property, investigations, and wildlife management.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the department.
• Participate in law enforcement programs to carry out the policies and goals of the Biltmore Company.
• Conduct special investigations as needed.
• Work shifts on a rotating schedule, including days, evenings, midnights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Evaluate evidence, witnesses, and suspects in criminal cases to identify trends, similarities, or associations with other cases.
• Participate in annual law enforcement in-service training and other required training events.
• Prepare and submit incident reports regarding criminal investigations, vehicle accidents, and other actions on the property.
• Meet with law enforcement officials, community and business representatives regarding department activities.
• Attend regional and state police conferences and meetings with public officials as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Current North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification.
• Prior experience in law enforcement, including guest service settings, is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, practices, procedures, and techniques of police operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences and comply with reporting requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, computers, and electronic data handling; ability to quickly learn Biltmore’s reporting systems and protocols.
• Must have or be able to obtain First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications.
• Valid NC Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and see; occasionally required to stand, walk, run, use hands, reach, jump, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, turn, or crawl.
• Must possess manual dexterity to operate handguns, rifles, shotguns, ammunition, handcuffs, ballistic vests, keys, computers, and other tools/equipment.
• Ability to lift and/or move more than 150 pounds occasionally.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, night vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to effect arrests, including using handcuffs and other restraints, and subdue resisting suspects using approved techniques and weapons.
• Ability to pursue fleeing suspects and perform rescue operations, including entering/exiting patrol vehicles quickly, lifting/dragging heavy objects, climbing obstacles, jumping from elevated surfaces, and balancing on uneven surfaces.
• Ability to operate a law enforcement vehicle during day and night, including in emergency situations at high speeds, in congested traffic, and in unsafe road conditions (e.g., fog, rain, ice, snow).
• Ability to perform rescue functions at accidents or emergencies, including directing traffic, administering emergency medical aid, lifting/dragging/carrying people, and securing/evacuating areas.
