About the Role

The Compactor Repair Technician performs preventative maintenance, repairs, reconstruction, installation, and modifications on all types of waste and recycling industry compactors and balers equipment.

Hiring range: $25–$35/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostic tests, preventative maintenance, and repairs on compactors, balers, and other stationary equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics for control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical problems on hydraulic and electrical components (110/120 VAC – 480 VAC), including high-voltage electricity.
  • Maintain knowledge of proper installation procedures for compactors and other stationary equipment; perform or assist with installations as scheduled.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work on equipment when needed for repairs.
  • Complete paperwork and/or data entry associated with equipment repairs accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Casella and OSHA standards; follow established safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Participate in training and learning opportunities to expand knowledge of company products, sales, and services.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support company vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Class B or C CDL license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience with waste and recycling compaction equipment.
  • Experience with pumps, valves, cylinders, couplers, hydraulic controls, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong electrical diagnostic skills for electric-over-hydraulic compaction equipment, including reading electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Excellent welding and fabrication skills.
  • Good listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven commitment to work and dedication to safety.
