About the Role

Join a team committed to engaging individuals experiencing homelessness in an approachable and empathetic manner. This role focuses on maintaining a safe and supportive residential environment while addressing the varied needs of residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Perform rounds and address the needs of residents with empathy and self-awareness.
  • Manage conflict or challenging behaviors while emphasizing safety and building trust.
  • Screen residents and visitors at the front door.
  • Create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Manage inventory for supplies and maintain fire safety drills and logs.
  • Provide emergency first aid, CPR assistance, and administer NARCAN when needed.
  • Assist with inspections and audits.
  • Escort clients and serve meals as needed.
  • Help maintain an orderly and clean facility.
  • This position is subject to mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license.
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • TB clearance when required.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.
  • Vaccination preferred but not required.

Schedule

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
