Community Support Specialist role within University Health Behavioral Health’s Intensive Community Services (ICS) team in Kansas City, Missouri. Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
About the role
Community Support Specialist is an important direct service role within a multi-disciplinary team focused on providing behaviorally-oriented and socially rehabilitative services in the community for clients experiencing disruption in functioning due to severe, persistent mental illness. Services focus on assistance in the domains of physical, environmental, financial, social, occupational, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments and ongoing behavioral & psychosocial-needs assessments.
- Provide information, referral, and education to clients and families.
- Coordinate services with all providers.
- Assist clients in learning skills necessary for successful independence and community integration.
- Function as part of an interdisciplinary team for client care in a multicultural setting.
- Work under the regular supervision and direction of a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
- Engage in field work, meeting clients in homes, community centers, or drop-in spaces.
- Maintain accurate paperwork and compliance documentation.
Requirements
- Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a similar field.
- Strong communication and active-listening skills; ability to build trust and motivate others.

- For roles involving driving: meet all safety and compliance standards.

Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday.
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- 40 hours per week.
